WHO AM I?

Hello! I am Jamie Bryant, 27, currently living in Kingston-upon-Thames, a town just inside of London. I've always had an interest in design throughout my life and have always wanted to see my work out in the public eye.

Graphic design has been my ambition since I was a child- from the age of 10 years old, when my grandad told me skateboarding wasn’t the best career choice and that I should pursue something creative (he was probably right… I wasn’t very good).

Since then, I’ve always pushed myself to be as creative as possible throughout education, before getting my first opportunity as a Junior Designer in 2015. From then to now, I have climbed the ladder from junior to senior designer, and have learnt so much along the way. Developing new skills, working in a team, learning from my mistakes and overcoming obstacles helped build the designer I am today.

WHERE DO I CURRENTLY WORK?

I currently work for a promotional products company called Will International Ltd, as the Senior Graphic Designer. The company has grown massively in the past 6 years and has recently moved towards in-house printing, which I have been at the forefront with printing procedures and artwork set-up.

Managing and working with one other junior designer, we launch products weekly through e-shots and on the Will International website- creating product specifications, packaging and visual proofs amongst many other things for products such as powerbanks and water bottles for example. Working alongside a sales team, we assist them with product mockups that they use to get regular orders in.

After 7 years at the company, moving from junior to senior and evolving the creative side, I feel I do need to test my skills and capabilities on a new venture when it becomes available.

WHAT ARE MY STRENGTHS?

I like to think I can make anything a strength if I work hard enough at them, as nobody is perfect at the start. I believe trial and error is one of the best ways to develop and learn in any trade, especially as a designer. I’m very persistent when it comes to learning new things, searching Google and watching YouTube to learn as much as I can. Working on Photoshop and Illustrator 5 days a week for 7 years has helped build up some experience, and I like to consider myself a problem solver when it comes to other applications that I am less confident in.

Working in a small office made me a team player, helping out my colleagues whenever I can. Since Covid-19 began in 2020, I have been working from home remotely which helped build my independence when it came to finishing projects and completing daily tasks.

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Adobe Lightroom

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro

  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel)

  • Squarespace & WordPress

  • Windows Operating System (preferred)

  • Apple Operating System

WHAT IS MY BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

My biggest accomplishment is definitely working with bPay by Barclaydard to design a product for the promotional product market at Will International. I felt like I learnt so much when it came to the industry and although the product design didn’t go the way I envisioned, I will always be proud of how the project turned out.

The project taught me a lot about design conflicts, working with a different brand and how opinions can completely change a design.
